Why compatibility is hard
Compatibility is not one variable. It is a pattern made of:

AFYN's approach
AFYN uses structured scenario prompts (CoreQuests). Users answer open-ended questions. The system encodes response meaning, then compares patterns across users.
That gives a probabilistic estimate of alignment, not a binary yes/no label.
Why this is better than pure preference matching
Preference matching says, "You both like X." Mindset matching asks, "Do you process life in similar ways?"
That difference matters for long-term compatibility.
